4 مارچ 1793: دوسرا افتتاحی خطاب

ایک ہی شہر کے:

مجھے ایک بار پھر اپنے ملک کی آواز کے ذریعہ اس کے چیف مجسٹریٹ کے فرائض انجام دینے کے لئے بلایا گیا ہے۔ جب اس کے لیے مناسب موقع آئے گا، میں اس اعلیٰ احساس کا اظہار کرنے کی کوشش کروں گا کہ میں اس ممتاز اعزاز اور اس اعتماد کا اظہار کروں گا جو متحدہ امریکہ کے لوگوں نے مجھ پر کیا ہے۔

صدر کے کسی بھی سرکاری عمل کو انجام دینے سے پہلے، آئین کو عہدے کے حلف کی ضرورت ہوتی ہے۔ یہ حلف اب میں اٹھانے والا ہوں، اور آپ کی موجودگی میں، 56 کہ اگر یہ پایا جاتا ہے کہ میری حکومت کے دوران میں نے کسی موقع پر اپنی مرضی سے یا جان بوجھ کر اس کے حکم کی خلاف ورزی کی ہے، تو میں (آئینی سزا کے علاوہ) ان تمام لوگوں کی حوصلہ افزائی کے تابع رہیں جو اب موجودہ پروقار تقریب کے گواہ ہیں۔

March 4, 1793: Second Inaugural Address

Fellow-Citizens:
I am again called upon by the voice of my country to execute the functions of its Chief Magistrate. When the occasion proper for it shall arrive, I shall endeavor to express the high sense I entertain of this distinguished honor, and of the confidence which has been reposed in me by the people of United America.
Previous to the execution of any official act of the President, the Constitution requires an Oath of Office. This Oath I am now about to take, and in your presence, 56 that if it shall be found during my administration of the Government I have in any instance violated willingly, or knowingly, the injunction thereof, I may (besides incurring Constitutional punishment) be subject to the upbraidings of all who are now witnesses of the present solemn Ceremony.
